Blumenthal Statement on DOJ Lawsuit Against Connecticut

[Hartford, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, released the following statement today on the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against Connecticut for refusing to turn over the state’s voter records to the Trump Administration.

“Trump and his lackeys can try to bully Connecticut all they want, but the facts are clear: this type of national voter roll poses a real risk to people’s privacy and would be completely unprecedented. Connecticut is right to stand up to the administration’s blatant power grab. States should be free to run their own elections and there is no evidence that voter fraud is a widespread issue. I am hopeful the courts will judge this lawsuit for what it is —meritless,” Blumenthal said.
