Blumenthal Statement on Chairing Judiciary Committee Nominations Hearing

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following statement today after chairing a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on the nomination of Judge Christopher Droney to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit:

“This hearing was an occasion of deep personal pride and excitement, having known Christopher Droney for many years, worked with him when he was U.S. Attorney, and litigated before him as a District Court Judge. The hearing confirmed his extraordinary experience and distinguished record, making him strongly qualified for confirmation. The tenor and substance of the questions and responses indicated that there should be no controversy or obstacles to confirmation. I am optimistic about his confirmation to the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and confident that his dedication to the principles of our legal system will prove him to be an excellent addition to the court.”
