Senator Blumenthal Statement on ConnDOT Application to Federal Railroad Administration

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement this afternoon on Governor Dannel Malloy’s announcement that ConnDOT has submitted an application to the Federal Railroad Administration requesting $227 million in federal funding to complete the third phase of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) high-speed intercity passenger rail project:

“I will fight for this larger, well-merited request for federal funding to develop high speed rail, which would complete the necessary enhanced service between Hartford and Springfield. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues in the delegation and Governor Malloy to advocate for funding that creates jobs, eases transportation and traffic flow, and builds the infrastructure we need to foster economic growth.”
