Blumenthal Statement On White House Nominees For Health And IT Leadership Positions At Department Of Veterans Affairs

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), ranking member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, released the following statement after the White House announced two nominees for top leadership positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs:

"I welcome today’s nominations of Dr. David Shulkin to be Undersecretary of Health and LaVerne Council to be Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology at the Department of Veterans Affairs. VA needs permanent leadership in place to meet the significant challenges that continue to face the Department. Even after these two nominations, too many key positions at VA remain unfilled. As Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, I look forward to considering the qualifications of these nominees and working to make sure the most capable individuals are serving our nation’s veterans, who deserve nothing less."
