Blumenthal Statement On Vote Of Senate Armed Services Committee On Hagel Nomination

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued a statement on the Senate Armed Services Committee’s approval of the President’s nomination of former Senator Chuck Hagel to serve as Secretary of Defense.

“I voted for the President’s nomination of former Senator Hagel to serve as Secretary of Defense because I believe he will keep faith with our men and women in uniform,” Blumenthal said. “Given the enormous national security challenges that await the next Secretary of Defense, including bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and responding to the unconscionable nuclear test by North Korea, the Senate should move quickly to vote on this nomination.”
