Blumenthal Statement On Senate Vote To Proceed To Debate On Immigration Bill

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement in response to the Senate vote to proceed to debate on S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, also known as the Immigration Bill:

“This overwhelming vote by a powerful bipartisan majority is a heartening, highly significant first step toward immigration reform. Reform will enable 11 million people, including many thousands in Connecticut, to come out of the shadows and begin a path to earned citizenship. I will continue to fight for this bill – building on improvements made by the Judiciary Committee – and I will offer additional amendments to strengthen it.”
