Blumenthal Statement On President Obama’s Speech About Syria

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s speech on Syria:

“I share President Obama's  outrage at the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and applaud him for speaking directly to the American people tonight. I am hopeful that a verifiable, enforceable and timely diplomatic solution will be the American and world response to Syria's deplorable actions.

“I remain concerned about the resolution now before the Senate authorizing the use of military force. It is too broadly written, lacks international support, and risks entangling us in Syria’s protracted civil war.”
