Blumenthal Statement on February Jobs Numbers

(Hartford, CT) - Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following statement after the Labor Department’s jobs report showed the economy added 227,000 jobs in February, exceeding forecasts. The Department of Labor revised job gains for January upward to 284,000 jobs, making the previous 12 months the highest period of economic job growth of the last five years.

“Today's encouraging jobs report is yet another indication of continued economic growth, but it underscores that we have a long way to go before our country has fully recovered. It is essential we continue our efforts to ensure this fragile recovery stays on track, and putting Americans back to work must remain a top priority. I look forward to advancing the fight for well-paying, dependable employment for people in Connecticut and across the country, and I urge the House to take up the Senate's bipartisan transportation bill and pass it when they return.
