[Hartford, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement today on the U.S. Navy’s announcement that RTX was awarded a $230.6 million contract to support the production of F135 engines.
“This $230 million contract for RTX in East Hartford will support an additional 138 F135 engines, underscoring Connecticut manufacturing’s central role in our national defense. Our state’s talented workers design and produce world class engines, and this significant investment will ensure the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and our allies have the most effective weapons to defend our nation’s interests. I am thrilled to see yet another vote of confidence in Connecticut-made and will keep fighting to support our local defense manufacturers,” Blumenthal said.
Work will be completed by May 2031, and will be performed in East Hartford, Cromwell, Middletown, Cheshire, and other locations across the United States.
