Blumenthal Statement on $2.3 Billion Contract Modification for Electric Boat

[Hartford, CT] — U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released a statement following the announcement that Electric Boat has been awarded a $2.3 billion contract modification from the U.S. Navy for materials and manufacturing associated with Virginia Class submarines.

“This $2.3 billion is fantastic news for Electric Boat and their supply chain. Submarines are at the core of our commitment to national defense and Electric Boat has shown time and again that they are capable of handling this incredibly important work. This funding is a boon for our state’s talented workforce and our economy, and I will keep fighting for more investments for our defense manufacturing industry,” Blumenthal said.

Work will be performed in Windsor Locks at a subcontractor, as well as in Sunnyvale California, Chesapeake, Virginia and other locations.
