Blumenthal Joins Colleagues in Bipartisan Vote in Favor of FAA Reauthorization

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after voting last night in favor of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Bill:

“I am encouraged to see my colleagues come together in a bipartisan effort to pass the FAA Reauthorization Bill. If enacted, this bill will increase air travel safety and improve access to communities across the country, as well as create up to 280,000 jobs with the potential to create thousands more. Additionally, the bill includes several provisions that will reduce the level of noise resulting from the current flight paths over the state of Connecticut. This is beneficial legislation all around, as it creates jobs for the people of Connecticut and helps boost our economy.”

The airline industry accounts for nearly 11 million American jobs and contributes roughly 5% of the U.S. GDP.
