Blumenthal Issues Statement On Presidential Citizens Medal For Newtown Educators

(Hartford, CT) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) issued the following statement today regarding the Presidential Citizens Medal to be awarded posthumously to the educators killed in the Newtown shooting:

"I look forward to joining the families of the courageous educators killed in the Newtown shooting next Friday, February 15 at a White House ceremony where the President will posthumously honor them with the Presidential Citizens Medal. These extraordinary educators, who sacrificed their lives to protect students in their care, gave a profound new dimension to the meaning of public service. All of America has been awed by the story of their strength, bravery and caring reflected in this honor."
