Blumenthal Announces Changes to Press Team, New Communications Director

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today announced changes to his office’s communications team. Ty Matsdorf, formerly Senator Blumenthal’s Communications Director, has left the office to become the War Room Director and Senior Advisor to American Bridge, a Democratic PAC. Kate Hansen, formerly Senator Blumenthal’s Press Secretary, will become the office’s Communications Director. Lily Adams, who has been serving as the Senator’s Connecticut Press Secretary, will relocate to Washington to serve as Press Secretary.

“Ty has been a true asset to my office and his strategic instinct and unfailing wit will be sorely missed. I am excited to announce that Kate Hansen, formerly my Press Secretary, will immediately take over as Communications Director. I am thrilled that Kate has agreed to take this new post as the head of our communications team - her trusted judgment and insight will continue to be invaluable to me and my office as we move forward. Lily is an excellent addition to our DC communications staff; her tireless dedication and acumen have made her an indispensable part of our team in Connecticut.”

Originally from New Haven, Kate Hansen has served as Press Secretary in the DC office since Senator Blumenthal’s swearing-in, having served previously as the Communications Director for the Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee and as Communications Director for Congressman Patrick Murphy. She is a graduate of Duke University and the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.

Before joining Senator Blumenthal’s office, Lily Adams served on the communications staff of Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s reelection campaign and Creigh Deeds’ campaign for Governor of Virginia. She is a native Texan and graduated from Brandeis University.
