The Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, and the paths still not taken

    by Senator Richard Blumenthal

Brown v. Board of Education was the culmination of a decades-long strategy by innovative lawyers, community organizers, and other advocates of social change. Significant achievements like this do not come overnight; those who won this court battle, as well as those fighting for change now, know that they take hard work and years of sacrifice.

Senator Blumenthal calls for intelligence oversight in major policy address

In a major policy speech today at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Senator Blumenthal underscored the urgent need for new accountability for the intelligence community, as indicated by the recent disturbing allegations of abuse of power by the CIA as well as continuing revelations about NSA activity. Blumenthal continued to advocate for legislation he has introduced to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review-- collectively, the FISA courts.

The Password Protection Act Will Protect Employees’ Private, Personal Information

Like many of you, I was appalled when I heard accounts of employers forcing prospective employees to provide passwords to personal websites like Facebook as part of the hiring process. As Americans, we value our privacy, and the thought that our privacy could be invaded as part of the job hunt is anathema to us.

Don't Double Student Loan Interest Rates

There should be nothing contentious or partisan about providing affordable college education. In coming weeks, the Congress must seize the opportunity to invest in college affordability, or student loan intrest rates will double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent in July.
